Leading Worship in Kid's Church Part One
Written by Jim Gerhold
There are two things to remember in "Leading worship". First is the word lead. Lead simply means model or setting the example. Showing the kids that worship is a lifestyle. As a Children's Pastor or leader you should consider yourself likewise to a shepherd. A shepherd leads and does not push. The sheep know his voice and he is gentle in leading. You can not push a child to true worship, but you can model it before them giving them a pattern to copy.
Second, the word worship is more than just praise. As I said earlier it is a lifestyle. We many times in our minds turn it on at church and off as we leave to the real world. When we worship God in His house, it is a time to celebrate and to honor the goodness of God. We do not leave God behind when we leave church because His presence lives with in us. Worship is how we live and breathe each day as a Christian. Our lifestyle shows how much we truly love God and how we place Him in our hearts.
Use this time as a teaching moment to to build on and to reinforce their spiritual well-being and "train up a child" as part of your worship time.
